Oxfam GB Indonesia

Campaign

Oxfam campaigns together with local organisations to help millions of poor men and women in Indonesia earn a better living. We work to ensure the voices of the poor are heard, helping them implement systems for the sustainable use of natural resources, gain market access and develop the capacity to adapt to the impacts of climate change. We work alongside small farmers trying to earn basic income by selling their crops for a fair price, and work under the belief that until wealthy nations stop subsidising their own agricultural products and dumping excess supply on pooe countries, the odds will remain stacked against the latter.

We also work alongside fishermen & farmers in small islands in Indonesia trying to adapt to climate change, and we believe that until rich countries cut their carbon emissions and governments begin providing support to the poor to adapt to climate change, the burden will be born by these people and their families.

We believe that if we continue to campaign for change alongside our emergency response to disaster and our long-term development work, Oxfam, together with civil society and the government, will play its part in succeeding to overcome poverty and suffering in Indonesia.
